Good Grief Series
'As the ‘needle pricks the conscience’, it also unwinds those experiences tied up tight like a spool of thread. In the recording of experience, those events cease to become solely those of the self but transmute to become part of the universal. These handkerchiefs belonged to my grandmother and this sense of history was a balm to me. I began to work on this series when I was too tired, frustrated, damaged, beat up or fed up to go to my studio and here I found a way both to keep both my hands and mind busy and my heart could empty of whatever impasse. As a collection, I realized they are both a testament to the human determination to work through grief and a reflection of universal experience.'
